Martyn Barr


Martyn Barr is an award-winning educational writer and marketing consultant. His book on Canterbury Cathedral’s stained glass windows - Paintings in Light - was named runner-up in the children’s publication category in the National Association for Cultural Enterprises 2014 Awards. Both the Young Person’s History Guide to Canterbury and To Be A Bee were nominated for a Canterbury Culture Award in the Excellence category.

An experienced journalist, designer and public relations consultant, Martyn began his PR career at the London Borough of Southwark before moving on to the Government Information Service. There he was responsible for several multi-million-pound information programmes, including the high profile teenage anti-drugs campaign.

He relocated to Kent in 1988 to join a local PR and crisis management company. Nine years later Martyn established his own consultancy, Impact PR & Design Limited, and now works for clients across a broad range of industry sectors. He established Out of the Box Publishing Limited in 2009 to produce and market his own titles.

Martyn has been a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations since 1986. He is married with three daughters and lives and works near Canterbury.
